13 Costume Ideas for Halloween 2015 -- and How to Pull Them Off

DIY tips on what you need to become your favorite characters -- real and fictional -- this Halloween

Imperator Furiosa from 'Mad Max'
For a clever way to recreate Furiosa's gritty, dirty look, apply coffee grounds or GlamGlow's YouthMud Tinglexfoliate Treatment on your forehead. If you're not planning on shaving your head à la Charlize Theron just for Halloween, you could always wear a black stocking or bathing cap to mimic her look. Dark-haired gals also have the option of simply slicking their hair back to create a buzzed effect. As for your outfit, give a torn-and-tattered tee a second life, and stack on some belts.

The Chanels from 'Scream Queens'
If you're stepping out with a squad this Halloween you can't go wrong with channeling the Chanels -- the sassy group of sorority sisters from "Scream Queens." Emma Roberts' character leads the clique, whose members only get numerical identities.

Recreate the girls' wardrobes by reaching for pastels, faux fur, feathers, and plenty of flashy baubles. Chanel #3 will need earmuffs because she's never without a pair of some sort -- fluffy, bejeweled, or whatever the occasion calls for. One of Roberts' best fashion moments comes in the form of a faux-fur vest from Brit brand Shrimps, and if you're lucky enough to own a Chanel bag, it will lend the perfect touch of authenticity to the Kappa president's wardrobe -- she calls Karl Lagerfeld "Uncle," after all.

And for the girl in your squad who would never wear anything fluffy or pink, there's newbie Grace, who tends to gravitate towards ripped jeans, varsity-inspired sweaters, and an inexplicable penchant for newsboy caps.

Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner is having a moment to be sure; she's cornered the market on Snapchat and her just-launched app has eclipsed her sisters' in popularity, making her a no brainer costume choice come October 31. Plus, Halloween is pretty much every day for the beauty chameleon, who constantly changes up everything from her hair color to her lip size.

Go for a quirky-casual Jenner look with long aquamarine hair -- reach for colored extensions from the teen's collection for an authentic look -- a black sports bra, leggings, and Adidas' Yeezy Boost sneakers.

Alternatively, you can channel one of her more sultry styles by rocking long black hair, a high-cut swimsuit, expertly contoured makeup and pouty nude lips. We suggest avoiding the controversial shot glass lip-plumping method that Jenner helped popularize earlier this year and instead adopting one of these clever -- and safe! -- lip-plumping hacks.

No one (with an Instagram account) will question who you are.

Yeezy Season 2 Runway Show Model
Dressing up as a Yeezy Season 2 runway model will offer you an opportunity to have some fun with your undergarments. You can easily recreate the unusual looks that Kanye West sent down the runway during New York Fashion Week by layering on full-body Spanx, tights, nude-toned sports bras, or even an old ballet leotard. All are great choices for channeling the Yeezy aesthetic. When in doubt, just throw on a sweatshirt to respectfully honor Kanye's one-of-a-kind style. An added bonus? You'll be comfy all night.

'Star Wars' Characters
The classic option here is Princess Leia, of course, which requires you to reach for a belted white dress and to recreate her signature buns. "Star Wars" is never not having a moment, but it's especially big this year, given the anticipation of the upcoming film: "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." While we don't know how to channel new characters like Lupita Nyong'o's Maz Kanata, we can recreate a a futuristic "Star Wars"-inspired makeup look, thanks to the CoverGirl x Star Wars collaboration. Tap the metallic-heavy collection to add a touch of modernity to anything from a Leia to a C-3PO look.
