And at Oscar de la Renta, makeup artist Tom Pecheux finished off the black liquid liner rimming the upper lids with a flick of color -- either lavender, baby pink, blue, orange, or green -- at the corners. "The color is almost like bad breath," he said. "You only experience it if you're close."

At Kate Spade, manicurist Deborah Lippmann added interest to dusty pink nails by painting a thin vertical line (in her own Fade to Black shade) that led to a teeny tiny pearl at the base. "It's a little bit edgy and a little bit sweet," she said.
