Ah, "The Nutcracker:" It's one of those things that just kind of makes you think. How, exactly, did a ballet about a girl who gets a magical nutcracker from her crazy eyepatch-wearing uncle, who then travels with said nutcracker to what's basically Candy Land become so ingrained in holiday tradition?

Then again, why shouldn't it be? It's got everything: A rat king, waltzing snowflakes and flowers, numerous references to various countries and their cuisines (that are not quite politically correct by modern standards), not to mention that enigmatic, eyepatch-wearing Herr Drosselmeyer. It's basically a smorgasbord of good cheer (often literally).
