Lash-Reviving Mascara
The same way your skin can dry out in the winter (my cuticles are looking pretty rough these days), eyelashes can get parched and may even break off -- especially if you pile on traditional mascara. However, there are some lash-nourishing mascaras out there, and the new Rimmel Wonder'Lash Lift Me Up Mascara, $9, is my current favorite. Not only does it give you big, soft, curled lashes, it also contains cucumber extract and vitamins to condition each lash. It's a makeup swap you really should make this winter. Nobody wants broken lashes. Nobody.

Serious Sheet Masks
This might be controversial to say, but after testing dozens (maybe even hundreds) of sheet masks, I've concluded that many of them don't do much at all. Sure, they hydrate your skin and the experience is relaxing (and fun), but I've seen more impressive results from traditional face masks than most sheet masks.

However, that's not the case with the Colbert MD Illumino Anti-Aging Brightening Mask, $110 for 5, which makes my skin look almost like Galadriel's from "Lord of the Rings" (my perfect-skin benchmark). They're packed with ingredients like brightening niacinamide and vitamin C, exfoliating lactic acid and calming and moisturizing vitamins and extracts, and they're formulated in a way that helps these ingredients penetrate deeply. Plus, the jelly-like bio cellulose material forms perfectly to my face without slipping into my eyes.

Colbert MD: 1. All other sheet masks: 0.

Hair Hydration Treatment
If your hair gets dry in winter, but you don't want to give up on your favorite shampoo and conditioner (neither do I), try adding Alterna Moisture Intense Oil Creme Pre-Shampoo Treatment, $30, to your routine. It's a moisturizing cream that contains oils like olive and avocado, and you apply it once or twice a week before you shampoo. It helps the moisturizing ingredients in your shampoo and conditioner work even better because they "stick" to the moisturizing ingredients in the cream. You'll have silky hair all season.

Precision Eyebrow Pencil
Eyebrows are big right now -- both literally and figuratively -- and it seems like a new brow product comes across my desk every day. The latest one to make the leap into my makeup bag is IT Cosmetics Brow Power Super Skinny, $24. As the name suggests, it's extremely skinny (for drawing on individual hairs), budge-proof and comes in seven shades. While many pencils can look reddish on brunettes, these have gray undertones to help them blend. I've added the "Universal Medium Brown" to my brow powder routine, and now I can proudly say: #browsonfleek.

Line-Erasing Serum
I meet with a lot of skin care executives for my job, and I'm always a little disappointed when they have mediocre skin. (And, to be honest, I'm less likely to try whatever they're representing.) But the opposite is also true: If their skin looks great, I'll slather on the product immediately.

Recently, a beauty publicist came by to tell me about Erasa XEP-30, $160. She'd been using the serum for two weeks, and her skin looked amazing: clear, glowing and even. (I'd seen her about a month earlier, and I could definitely tell the difference.)

Obviously, I took the serum home. I was impressed by the texture, which is thick yet goes on easily and leaves behind a pretty luminescence. Thanks to a special neuropeptide discovered in a cone snail (yes, you read that right), the serum relaxes muscles (a la Botox) over time. It's only been a week, but I'm already obsessed with the results.

December. Sure, it's the season of giving, but it's also the season of shopping. And while you're out there crossing names off your gift list, you might as well pick up a thing or two for yourself. After all, the best new beauty products launching this December aren't just holiday gift sets -- there are products you'll want to add to your regular routine, as well.

These new beauty products address some specific-to-December concerns: Think dry skin, flat hair and brittle lashes. Consider this list your personal guide to surviving the holiday season in style.
