Buh-Bye Top Knot! Helloooo, Low Ponytail

The easiest hairstyle on the planet is having a moment. See how celebs and stylists transformed this low-maintenance look into a bonafide runway/red carpet trend

Twisted Elegance
This low ponytail got a chic update at the Ports 1961 Milan runway show. To recreate this reverse French pleat, style hair into a low ponytail, leaving a three-inch section of hair out on one side. After the ponytail is secure, take the remaining section and roll toward your scalp, then secure with a bobby pin tucked into the ponytail elastic.

Grown-Up Pigtails
The runway ponytail styles at Kenneth Cole made us nostalgic for summer camp and hair braiding circles. Rather than looking juvenile, these braided pigtails look chic with loose, wavy ends.

The Queen Bey
Okay, so Beyoncé could wear just about any trend and we would hop on board, but we're particularly fond of this ponytail style she wore on the red carpet. To accentuate full, dramatic curls in back, use a strong hold hairspray to keep the front slicked down and frizz free.

Undone Glamour
Leather wraps accented the low and loose ponytails at Helmut Lang's spring 2014 runway show.

Part Ways
Even a change as simple as switching up your part can completely change your look. Take a note from Chanel Iman on the DKNY runway and create a deep side part even with the arch of your brows.

And you thought the low ponytail was the hairstyle of choice at the gym and on Saturday mornings. Pah! We saw the classic low ponytail in a gorgeous lineup of styles everywhere on New York Fashion Week runways and awards season red carpets. Slicked back or slightly mussed, with deep side parts or straight down the middle, braided or with a barrage of killer accessories -- you name it. The classic low ponytail may be an easy hair fix on a lazy day, but with just a smidge more effort, you can give this humble hairstyle a serious makeover. See how some of our favorite celebs and top runway stylists transformed this low-maintenance look into a bonafide runway/red carpet trend.
