The burlesque dancer channels iconic pin-up girl Bettie Page with her short, retro bangs. The length really makes a statement when paired with a deep, rich hair color.

Raise your hand if you've ever felt personally victimized by bad bangs. Oh, everyone? My very own bad bang story goes back to high school, when too-short and too-blunt bangs made my round face look even wider. It was then that I swore off bangs forever. Fast forward a few years later, and the high rise of celebrities getting bangs convinced me I needed to try again ... with a shape that was more flattering to my face. Voila! With soft, side swept fringe my face magically looked slimmer.

On the fence about fringe? You just need to find the most flattering style for your face shape. The right bang can soften a pointed chin, even out wide cheeks and make a long face look more balanced. Here's the down 'n' dirty way to figure out your face shape:

*Oval: Your face will be longer than it is wide, with a forehead that is slightly wider than your chin.
*Square: Is your jaw line the same width as your hairline? Do you also have a prominent jaw line? Then this is your face shape.
*Long: This face shape is longer than it is wide, with a narrow chin.
*Heart: A long, narrow jaw line and pointed chin characterize this face shape.
*Round: If the length and width of your face are the same, this is your face shape.
