Start with a brow kit
Prep your brows with an eyebrow shaping kit, such as the Too Faced Brow Envy, $39. Since it has two shades, you can either choose one or mix them to get a customized color. If you're just starting out with brows, a kit like this can really come in handy, since it also comes with tweezers, spoolie and a brush that can help you shape and define your brows.

Find your perfect brush
Great brows start with a great brush. We recommend a dual-ended option, such as this Anastasia Beverly Hills Brush 12 Dual-Ended Firm Angled Brush, $18, since it can help you draw hairlike strokes and blend product flawlessly.

Brush your brows
Before filling in your brows, it's important to know its natural stroke and gaps. Using a brow spoolie, brush your eyebrows upward in a feathered motion. This will show you where the bald spots are which should be filled in in the next step. It will also show you the natural direction of your brows which is how you should be drawing your strokes.

Draw your hair strokes
Now that you know the areas to fill in, lightly draw hair stroke in a feathered motion. It's important to use precision to get the right brow direction. Use small, upward motions and keep your hand light. Make sure the lines you're drawing are slanted towards the outer edge of your eye. Finally, blend the hair strokes with a spoolie to fade and blend it.

We recommend the Benefit Precisely My Brow Eyebrow Pencil, $24, for the job: It's perfect for drawing fine eyebrow lines and defining the shape of your eyebrows. It's blendable and creates a natural-looking shade, something you need to achieve feathered brows.

Feathered texture
After filling in your brows, use a brow gel or pomade to brush them upward, which will help define the feathered look further. Use the brow gel gently and make sure not to use too much or darken your brows beyond your natural shade. For this step, we like Glossier Boy Brow, $16, since it adds texture and hold but still looks natural.
