Dior's metallic shadows, Lorac's shiny lip glosses, Guerlain's four-way blush and more great buys for your fall makeup shopping list

Cle de Peau Satin Eye Color in Velvet, $45
This limited edition eye shadow compact could be empty, and I'd still buy it -- that's how much I love the rose-printed packaging. The formula is just as spectacular. It's infused with moisturizing, skin-soothing Argan oil, and the color is pearlescent without being shiny.

Dior Fusion Mono Eye Shadow, $30 each
For fall, Dior is all about glimmering metallic colors on the eyes. These gorgeous shadow pots come in eight gilded shades and have the most amazing bouncy texture -- drier than a cream and silkier than a powder. You can pat them on with a brush for a saturated look, sweep them on with your finger for a diffused wash of color, or use a skinny brush to paint them on as liner.

Chanel Nail Colour in Mysterious, $27
True to form, Chanel's fall color collection is mostly made up of classics like pretty blush shades, subtle shadows, and coral lipsticks. Which is why this nail polish really caught my eye: the color is somewhere between gray and garbage can green, and I'm betting there will be a waitlist (a la Black Pearl two years ago) come September.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Mysterious Red, $25
We already revealed the entire Nars collection, and I flipped through it a dozen times trying to choose a favorite. It wasn't an easy process, but this Velvet Matte Lip Pencil is my top pick from the bunch. These pencils feel silky, wear beautifully, and really last. This one's the perfect shade of fuchsia-red.

YSL City Drive Palettes, $55 each
I'm a Gemini, which means I'm regularly torn between two opposite choices, and picking a YSL eye shadow palette was no exception. The "Arty" version is loud and edgy; the "Classy" one contains wear-them-daily neutrals. The verdict? Go for both. Even if you don't believe in astrology hocus pocus, trust me: you'll use them.
