Every year, seasonal gear seems to hit stores earlier and earlier. Try to buy a bikini now and you'll get sale racks of mismatched tops and bottoms, plus the tweed skirts and leather jackets everyone will be wearing in … September.

It's no different for fall makeup collections. Just a few years ago, these products hit Sephora shelves just as the weather started to cool off. Now, most of them launch in the dog days of August, and a few are available right now. It's confusing, but we're not complaining. If you get your hands on fall makeup now, you have plenty of time to master new Fall 2013 makeup trends, like the metallic eye every makeup artist is raving about right now, or the uber-dark lipstick.

We sifted through 10 fall collections from luxury makeup lines -- Dior, Chanel, Guerlain, and more -- and picked the very best of the bunch. Warning: at first glance, you may suffer from serious sticker shock. These products aren't cheap, but you're paying for quality that lasts 'til the trend fades.

This limited edition eye shadow compact could be empty, and I'd still buy it -- that's how much I love the rose-printed packaging. The formula is just as spectacular. It's infused with moisturizing, skin-soothing Argan oil, and the color is pearlescent without being shiny.

For fall, Dior is all about glimmering metallic colors on the eyes. These gorgeous shadow pots come in eight gilded shades and have the most amazing bouncy texture -- drier than a cream and silkier than a powder. You can pat them on with a brush for a saturated look, sweep them on with your finger for a diffused wash of color, or use a skinny brush to paint them on as liner.

True to form, Chanel's fall color collection is mostly made up of classics like pretty blush shades, subtle shadows, and coral lipsticks. Which is why this nail polish really caught my eye: the color is somewhere between gray and garbage can green, and I'm betting there will be a waitlist (a la Black Pearl two years ago) come September.

We already revealed the entire Nars collection, and I flipped through it a dozen times trying to choose a favorite. It wasn't an easy process, but this Velvet Matte Lip Pencil is my top pick from the bunch. These pencils feel silky, wear beautifully, and really last. This one's the perfect shade of fuchsia-red.
