Fall's Hottest Hair Colors for Every Ethnicity

Let these dye jobs be your guide to going dark, rainbow and every soft highlight in between

Chrissy Teigen's Basically Blonde Ombré
In addition to her witty tweets and drool-worthy culinary adventures we stalk on Instagram, Chrissy Teigen's ever-changing hair is another reason we can't get enough of the supermodel. With the help of celebrity colorist Tracey Cunningham, Teigen recently transitioned from ombré to the prettiest, subtle shade of all-over blonde.

Kerry Washington Goes Sombré
The "Scandal" actress debuted a new, sombré style at the end of the summer that we expect to see everywhere this fall. Subtler than last season's ombré trend (subtle ombré, get it?), Washington's dark brown highlights fade seamlessly into her black hair, giving her a naturally lightened look that doesn't look too extreme against her dark skin.

Vanessa Hudgens' Red Dip Dye
Hudgens recently took to Instagram to show off her new look when she switched up her blonde ombré hair with a vibrant red. Stylist and co-owner of Nine Zero Salon, Riawna Capri used L'Oréal Professionnel INOA hair color to get the multi-dimensional color. If you're not ready for a dye job, Capri suggests investing in some good extensions like Great Lengths by Hair U Wear to keep hair healthy while still playing with bold colors.

Halle Berry's Highlighted Lob
When hairstylist Kristin Ess recently chopped Berry's hair into the lob of our dreams, we couldn't help but notice the perfect caramel toned highlights she also debuted.

Ian McCabe, stylist and owner of Ian McCabe Studio, says Berry's color works because it's the right mix of darker tones at the root and lighter tones at the ends. "Having a little depth through the root area balances out the skin tone in order to avoid getting washed out," McCabe says.

Nicole Richie's Electric Blue Bob
Richie's multi-colored experiments have shown us that you can wear wildly colorful hair and still look chic. Her latest dark blue shade is much more cold-weather appropriate than her springtime pastel lilac, but it still has a rock 'n' roll vibe. The darker hue is also a lower maintenance way to go rainbow for Richie since the royal blue shade is closer to her darker roots.

We are more excited about the hair color ideas our favorite beauty icons of color have been debuting for fall 2014 than we are about Pumpkin Spice Lattes -- they're that good.

We caught up with celebrity hair stylists Rita Hazan, Riawna Capri and Ian McCabe to discuss the trending celebrity hair colors darker skin tones are going to want to copy this fall.

These recent hair makeovers prove that when it comes to inspiring hair colors for darker skin tones, it's out with the old (so long, harsh ombré), in with the new (hello, sombré) … and everyone's favorite rainbow trend is here to stay.
