Eyebrow Shaping 101: Follow These Dos and Don'ts for Flawless Arches

Whatever the shape, shade and thickness of your brows and no matter how klutzy you believe you are with a pencil or brush; there is no brow that can't look fabulous.

Don't: Look in a magnifying mirror
It might be tempting to use a magnifying mirror — but they can actually give you a false perspective of how your brows look, since they have a slight fish eye effect that distorts their appearance. Instead, use a regular mirror and focus on how your brows look on your entire face. And if you want something that'll help you see the detail work, try a lighted mirror instead (we're fans of the iHome Vanity Mirror, $79.99 — it even plays music!).

Do: Apply concealer to hide re-growth
Most people don't realize that in order to wax effectively, your brows should be around a quarter of an inch long (which yes, is a hefty amount of regrowth). That said, you can always use an opaque concealer (such as the popular Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, $30) on them to camouflage until they're long enough to tweeze.

Don't: Use a razor
Threading, tweezing and waxing are the most precise ways to achieve brow perfection. Though tempting, using a razor is just too risky.

Do: Brush
Once you have your desired shape, brush your brows up with a clean spoolie brush to create volume and lift. It's also a great way to groom your brows on days when you're in a rush and don't want to do your whole brow routine — simply dab on a touch of Vaseline, spoolie it through and you're good to go.
