Step 12: Prep hair by misting a heat protectant spray, like TRESemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray, $4.23, onto dry hair. Then using a double barrel curling wand, clamp a 2-inch section of your hair at the root. Hold it clamped for a few seconds, then release and continue clamping and holding down the length of your hair.

Step 13: Once all of your hair is crimped, use your fingers to loosen and fluff sections out to create volume. Next, take a 3-inch section of your hair at the front and create a fishtail braid down through to the ends. Be sure to braid in the direction toward the back of your head as you go. Then, repeat on the opposite side.

Step 14: Secure the ends of your braids with a clear elastic, then tug on the braids to loosen them. Next, secure each braid with a clear elastic. Finally, wrap a piece of your hair around the clear elastic to conceal it.

Step 15: Using a white colored hairspray, spray your hair all over from your roots down through to the ends to finish.

Full disclosure: I've wanted to recreate the look of Game of Thrones' Daenerys for a while now (and not just around Halloween-time). Her makeup is soft and natural, and do not even get me started on how awesome her hair is, even when it's dirty and messy from trekking through the plains of Essos. So when we decided to give our editorial assistant Emily a GoT-style makeover for Halloween, I geeked out -- a lot. Not only is Dany a total badass and gorgeous to boot -- she's also got dragons.
