Here's How to Properly Care for Newly-Bleached Hair

Damage is inevitable when bleaching hair. Here's how you can nourish it back to health

Dry gently
Your bleached hair is extra vulnerable when wet. If you're not careful, it's when you'll experience a lot of breakage, so try to avoid rubbing your hair with a towel. If you have time, let it air dry and don't brush it until it's fully dry. Also, ditch your regular hairbrush and opt to use a wide-tooth comb or a special brush designed for wet hair. Microfiber turbans are also good for gently drying your hair, minus unwanted friction or heat damage.

Add some shine
The bleaching process can also take away your shine. So, bring back its life by using a leave-in shine treatment that can also act as a conditioner. You can use these both on days when you've washed your hair or when you opted to use a dry shampoo.

Indulge on weekly treatments
Because your hair is extremely damaged, it's basically a must to indulge in a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week. You can go to a salon for a professional treatment, but it's also important that you still have a hair mask incorporated in your at-home hair care routine. Apply the mask to your damp hair, cover it with a shower cap, and leave it for about 20 minutes before rinsing.

Tone out the brass
Your hair's moisture and brittleness aren't the only ones you're trying to fix in your hair care regimen. You may be enjoying a platinum hair a few days after the bleaching sesh, but you best believe that bright white shade isn't going to last. It'll quickly go brassy without regular toning. So if you don't want that rusty-looking hair, use an effective purple shampoo and conditioner.br>
However, toning treatments can dry out your hair so make sure to limit use to once a week. Also, wait at least two weeks after the bleaching session before including this to your regimen. If your hair is way too damaged, skip this step for a few more weeks until your hair is healthier.

Try: Nexxus Color Assure Long Lasting Vibrancy Blonde Assure Purple Shampoo, $11.99
