10 Best — and Worst — Celebrity Beauty Brands

From Cindy Crawford to Snooki, see what's worth buying

Best: IMAN Cosmetics
IMAN Cosmetics was created by supermodel Iman almost 20 years go, and it was the first makeup and skin care line specifically made for women of color. "It was more than foundations and powders; it was appealing to a deep psychological need that I think all black women needed at that time: To be told that they were beautiful, invited to sit at the cool table and courted in high style," Iman said in an interview with WWD about her line.

When the BB cream craze hit a few years ago, many brands launched with only one or two shades, which rarely worked for women with darker skin tones. Iman stepped in and brought six shades to the market, satisfying a serious demand yet again.

Best: Lauren Hutton Beauty
Just as Iman fills a void for women of color, Lauren Hutton's makeup line is specifically for women over 40. "We need different ways to put on makeup, and we need different products: What works for 20-year-olds just doesn't work for women over 42," says Hutton. The products are color-coded and easy to use. Hutton believes in natural makeup and gorgeous-looking skin (even if you have to fake that luminous glow), and her line helps women achieve exactly that.

Worst: Snooki
We start with the most egregious:

Oh, Snooki. The days of "Jersey Shore" are (thankfully) over, but Snooki's products continue to linger. There's nail polish, fragrance, and the Snookilicious by Nicole Polizzi makeup line. And -- of course -- there's self-tanner. For a cool $75, you can order a bottle of Snooki Ultra Dark 70x Black Bronzer with Skin Firming and Toning. Only just slightly better than using an actual tanning bed. Not only is the price insane, we weren't impressed with the results.

Worst: Melania by Melania Trump
As the wife of Donald Trump, Melania has luxuries in spades. A private jet with real gold interior? Check. A spa in her apartment? Check. So why would she use any old skin care line when she could create her own -- and infuse it with caviar from the South of France?

While the textures and fragrances are nice enough, the caviar is a gimmick. There isn't much research to support anti-aging benefits.

Worst: Jessica Simpson Dessert Beauty
Edible skin care is wrong on so many levels. But that was the premise of the now-defunct Jessica Simpson Dessert Beauty. Everything from lip gloss to body mousse was edible -- and tasted like sugary chemicals. Wonder why it was discontinued …
