Best Long-Lasting Lipstick No. 2: Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge, $20
Pros: Hailed as the Holy Grail of long-lasting lipsticks, this stays put. (Seriously, it does. not. transfer.) It lasted through multiple cups of coffee, lunch, afternoon snacks and even a workout. The clear coat helps keep lips moisturized and saturated with color without causing the original color to smear. And even when it fades, unless you scrutinize your face up close, the color still looks vibrant and in tact.

Cons: It applies a little tacky and sticky. Also, if your lips aren't properly exfoliated, it can cause them to dry out more. One tester's already dry lips flaked in one spot, resulting in a patch of missing color. But the good news: No matter how much she rubbed her lips together, the color didn't transfer -- a true testament to its staying power.

Claims: Tested five hours underwater, long-lasting

Best Long Lasting Lipstick No. 1: Rimmel London Provocalips 16 HR Kiss Proof Lip Colour, $6.99
Pros: The creamy formula goes on evenly, and truly does not budge all day -- even through eating and drinking. One tester was sure that her lipstick would be wrecked post-lunch, but it looked like she had just applied it. It also feels comfortable on your lips -- like you're wearing nothing at all.

Cons: Without makeup remover, this lipstick would outlast a nuclear holocaust. That just might not be a bad thing, though.

Claim: 16 hours

Hours before fading: 8
