Shaving
It seems like, since we've been shaving forever, we should know all the razor tips and tricks by now. But sometimes we get caught up in a routine, doing things the same way and getting the same results (ingrown hairs anyone?). Honey, it might be time for some updates. Here you go:

1. Do it in the tub: Soaking your legs before you shave makes the hairs softer and easier to shave.

2. Don't hate, exfoliate: Using a scrub or gloves or even a simple washcloth will help prevent ingrown hairs.

3. Use shaving cream: Stop with the soap already! It can increase irritation and blunt your blades. Which brings us to...

4. Invest in a good razor. If it's disposable, use it a maximum of three times, then toss it.

5. Shave in the direction of the hair growth. (And pull a Daenerys and bend the knee to get a close shave.)

6. If you are prone to the after shave bumps, get an aftershave product to treat the skin.

7. Clean your blades with rubbing alcohol and keep them dry between uses.

Hair Removal Creams
Depilatory creams are a favorite of some girls for good reason. They dissolve the hair even under the surface of the skin, leaving you smoother for longer, and they're easier to use, especially for beginners. There's no risk of nicks or cuts, plus you'll find that your hair may grow back softer and finer.

That said, there can be an unpleasant smell, and some users report skin sensitivity, but it's definitely a good option.

Laser
Once upon a time, you could only get laser treatments in doctor's offices, then they moved to spas, and now you can even do it at home. Laser is popular because it's semi-permanent; it reduces hair regrowth so much that you no longer have to shave (like, ever). It shoots a laser at the follicle which heats up enough to damage it and not grow back. It may sound painful, but you know what? It's not nearly as bad as waxing. Also, it's quick, you can cover large areas of your body in a relatively short time. But, it does take multiple sessions, up to twelve, to get the results you want. It can get pricey, but if you add up waxing appointments, or how much you spend on razors, it may even out.

Waxing
Waxing is not for the tender-hearted You girls who cried when your mom brushed your hair — you may want to choose another method: Because it hurts to get your hair yanked out by the root. Having said that, it is a quick, fairly cheap, and easy way to have no hair for around a month (depending on how fast your hair grows).

You can wax at home, but for the first time, go to a professional, and watch exactly how they do it, so you can copy them later. They give you a little pair of paper panties, and you let them know how much you want off. Landing strip, just the bikini line, full Brazilian? It's up to you.

When you're ready to DIY, there are multiple options for at home waxes. Some people say hard wax with a warming machine sans strips is less painful. The hair removal strips are the least messy. Wax with strips is old reliable. Whatever you choose, remember to wax a couple of days BEFORE you want the area to be seen, as it can get pretty red. Apres wax use body oil, not soap and water, to ensure that your legs aren't sticking together.
