It's the end of the year again, which means it's time to start thinking about those New Year's resolutions. Now, you could turn to the usual suspects — more exercise, take a vacation, a solemn promise to keep Nutella out of the house before that happens again — or you could maybe try something else. Maybe something that will help you look and feel better than you ever have.

We turned to some of the best and brightest experts in the beauty industry and asked them a question: what New Year's resolution do you hope your clients make? We got some great answers and we thought we'd share them with you. May some of their wisdom help you have the happiest, easiest, most beauty-filled year in 2019.

Dr. Harold Lancer, Dermatologist
"I hope you will follow a program. A good skin care program is the same as going to the gym: most people aren't consistent, so they don't see results. Slowly develop a skin care hygiene regimen from head to toe, and start with basics: think polish (exfoliate), then cleanse, then nourish. Slowly add products and targeted therapies as needed, like a hydrating oil or an eye treatment. Add onto your program as the need arises, but always remember the basics: Polish, Cleanse, Nourish." Take advantage of Lancer's advice by exfoliating with his Lancer The Method: Polish, $75.

"My two tips for my clients to keep in mind all year round are simple: don't tweeze your brows daily, and don't ever try to make your brows identical twins. They should resemble each other, like sisters, but not be identical. Follow these two rules and you won't have to worry about over-tweezing." Follow Stevi's advice and then be sure to keep those brows defined and gorgeous with her Naturally by Stevi Christine Detailed Eyebrow Definer, $26.

"Do the work while you're young to prevent more aggressive treatments when you're older. If you're 28+ and you want to invest in your face and skin care regimen without doing invasive treatments down the line, start the Skin Pen medical microneedling treatment one to four times a year. It's the first FDA-approved such device in the U.S. It's extremely precise and refines pores, softens fine lines and wrinkle while stimulating collagen." A good nighttime care regimen is also critical to your skin care long game, so invest in a regimen like the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Powerful Nighttime Renewal Set, $72.

"I would love to see people focus on lip skin care first, not troubleshooting after the fact with loads of color or ineffective balms that claim to moisturize but actually do the opposite. Exfoliated, hydrated skin is the key to that 'lit from within' look we all want, and lips play a big role. If your lips are properly exfoliated and hydrated day and night, you will glow. Many New Year's resolutions are about fixing what's broken, but I say embrace a good skin care routine for your lips to give yourself a perfect foundation to start with." Sara's namesake lip scrub is an editor mainstay for lip exfoliation, but Sara Happ The Lip Slip Balm, $24, seals the deal for lips so hydrated and soft, you'd think they belonged to someone else.
