7 Beauty Trends You'll Want to Try ASAP

From lip oils to in-shower tanning, these are the most innovative, gotta-have-it beauty products we spotted while researching our 2017 TotalBeauty Awards

Concentrated Pigment Drops
Gone are the days of one-size-fits-all foundation, bronzer or just about anything else. We live in a customizable age. Although beauty companies are meeting the made-for-me demands in numerous ways, the most user-friendly trend is pigment drops. These superconcentrated cosmetics allow you to add color to your moisturizer, sunscreen or serum -- one drop for sheer coverage, more for full. Or, you can apply them directly to the skin for a more intense result.

Our Editors' Pick winners include Isdin Isdinceutics Skin Drops, $52 -- a foundation pigment that feels like a dream -- and BareMinerals BareSkin Sheer Sun Serum Bronzer, $28. TotalBeauty readers chose Algenist Reveal Concentrated Color Correcting Drops, $38, as a color-correcting winner.

Up next in this category is concentrated SPF that turns any moisturizer or makeup into sunscreen, like Dr. Barbara Sturm Sun Drops, $145.

FaceTune Your Skin
Ah, FaceTune … everyone's favorite wrinkle-, freckle- and pore-erasing app -- that is, until your nose disappears. While it's all well and good to edit your selfies after the fact, imagine the time you'd save if your skin were Instagram ready before that photo is even snapped. From powders to primers, makeup that fakes perfect, poreless skin is exactly what beauty brands are trying to provide.

Becca Soft Light Blurring Powder, $38, gets the top prize in powder because it really does give your skin a FaceTune-like finish. The Estee Lauder Estee Edit Pore Vanishing Stick, $28, wins an Editors' Pick award for best primer because it can be applied before or after makeup to make pores invisible -- seriously. And then there's Rodial Instaglam Compact Deluxe Highlighting Powder, $57, which gets a highlighting nod for making skin appear flawless.

Detox With Charcoal
The next phase of the detoxing craze is here, and it's all about charcoal. The ingredient attracts and draws out impurities, which makes it especially effective for clogged pores or other lackluster skin conditions. Plus, these topical beauty products are a lot more palatable than ingesting charcoal lemonade.

Biore Charcoal Acne Scrub, $7.59, takes home an Editors' Pick acne treatment award for being gentle and effective. Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant, $58, is another charcoal-infused winner designed specifically to combat pollution that accumulates in the skin. Boscia Charcoal Makeup Melter, $32, a winner in the makeup-removing category, helps clean every last speck of foundation or mascara from your face. And then there's C. Booth Charcoal Foaming Dry Body Polish & Cleanser, $8.99, our body scrub winner, which feels seriously invigorating in the shower.

Oils, Oils Everywhere
The oil trend has been going on for years. First, face oils exploded and changed the way we thought about applying the slick substance to our pores. Then, hair oils had a moment. Now, oils are trickling into other categories.

Even nail polish has been infiltrated: Sally Hansen Color Therapy Nail Polish, $7.99, is an argan oil-infused polish that took home an award because it's wildly nourishing -- the oil is gradually released onto your nails while you wear the polish, keeping your nails hydrated and strong. Lip oils are another trend, and we're declaring Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Oil, $9, our favorite lip gloss of the year. Even though it's technically an oil, it keeps lips hydrated, glossy and smooth.

In the hair category, oils aren't just straight-up treatment products anymore. They've made their way into shampoos and conditioners like Herbal Essences Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo, $5.99, one of our award-winning favorites.

A New Way to Shower
These days, self-care seems more important than ever. But for many people -- women especially -- the only place and time to pamper is in the shower. That's why so many beauty companies are coming up with indulgent experiences and time-saving shower solutions that focus on the daily ritual.

Olay Duo Dual-Sided Body Cleanser, $9.99, wins our body breakthrough award because of its multitasking abilities. One side is for gentle cleansing and the other is for serious exfoliating -- and it comes pre-loaded with moisturizing body wash. If your skin is looking dull, Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer, $9.99, will let you hydrate and get bronzed -- no rinsing required. Meanwhile, if ultra luxurious (at a drugstore price) is more what you're after, try Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Yogurt Body Wash, $7.49, a body wash winner that really feels like whipped, decadent yogurt.

The 2017 TotalBeauty Award winners are in, and they will not disappoint. We sifted through thousands of submissions and spent countless hours slathering, dabbing, spraying and spritzing to choose the best new beauty launches in every category imaginable. Not only did these products outperform all the others in their category, they also highlight some of the key trends of the year: concentrated pigment drops, detoxifying charcoal and lightening-fast hair styling tools, to name a few. Here are the trends we spotted that show no signs of slowing down.
