Rockstar tousled hair
Nothing says summer more than sexy, tousled hair. To get a beachy look -- even if you're spending most of your summer days at the office instead of the pool -- try these tips from Abergel, who styles Kristen Stewart's hair:

Step 1: Apply a root-lifting volumizer through your hair before roughdrying it with a blow dryer. Try Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Volume Styling Whip, $23.
Step 2: Reapply the styling whip through your hair to create a natural wave.
Step 3: Backcomb hair from roots to ends with a teasing comb and spray with a light hairspray. Try Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Hairspray, $3.99.
Step 4: Flat iron random pieces of hair and brush through them to add texture.

Half Up Style
This style keeps hair away from your face while still maintaining a flowing hair girly vibe. Here's how you can copy Kerry Washington's pretty look:

Step 1: Blow dry your hair evenly with a round brush.
Step 2: Apply a hair oil to the ends of your hair for a smooth finish. Try KeSARI Beauty Indian Oil Serum, $31.50.
Step 3: Starting at chin level, wrap 2-inch sections of your hair around a large barrel curling iron.
Step 4: Brush through your curls once to soften and then tousle your hair to create a relaxed wave look.
Step 5: Smooth back the top third of your hair using a flat paddle brush. Then twist your hair in the back and secure with bobby pins to the back of your head, maintaining volume at the crown.

Polished ponytail
Summer is the best time to "get creative with your ponytails," say Martinez and Silverman. Bar Refaeli's polished ponytail looks effortlessly chic and it's perfect for summer days and nights:

Step 1: Apply blow dry gel to towel-dried hair and blow dry hair with a round brush. Try Redken Velvet Gelatine 07 Cushioning Blow-Dry Gel, $17.
Step 2: Begin to curl your hair starting at chin level in 2-inch sections with a brush through them.
Step 3: Smooth your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with an elastic. Wrap a piece of hair from the ponytail around the band to hide it.
Step 4: Apply a dab of styling gel to your palms and slick them over your hairline to tame flyaways.

Fake-out bob
Here's one for the commitment-phobes: a hairstyle that'll give you a short, trendy bob for a day, minus the dramatic haircut. See how to do a faux-bob like Rosario Dawson's below:

Step 1: You'll want to keep your hair sleek, so apply an anti-frizz serum to dry hair and brush it through. Try Frederic Fekkai Coiff Perfecter Anti-Frizz Silkening Crme, $24.
Step 2: Curl the top layer of your hair with a 1-inch curling iron. Spritz with hairspray.
Step 3: Pull your hair into a low ponytail and secure it with an elastic 1 inch from the bottom of the nape of your neck.
Step 4: Tuck all of your hair under and pin it at the nape of your neck with lots of bobby pins.

Pinned bangs and curls
Pinning bangs up keeps them from sticking to your sweaty forehead, says celebrity hairstylist Kevin Ryan. For Reese Witherspoon's bouncy curl look, all you need is a diffuser and some salt spray:

Step 1: As soon as you get out of the shower, towel dry your hair and mist it with salt spray. We like Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Texturizing Sea Spray, $17.95.
Step 2: Blow dry your hair with a diffuser to bring out your natural waves. As you're drying, try to scrunch your hair to create more texture.
Step 3: If your hair is naturally straight, use a 1-inch curling iron to curl 1-inch sections of your hair. Then rake your fingers through your hair.
Step 4: Create a small pouf with your bangs and pin them in place.

I'm crazy about summer. Nothing beats poolside lounging, watermelon slices, sundresses and endless nights. Unfortunately, my hair does not feel the same way -- even though I love the feeling of sand in my toes, sun on my face (with sunscreen!) and saltwater on my skin, my hair does not appreciate mixing with all of the elements. It stubbornly refuses to be anything besides a big, frizzy, hot mess.

While everything else goes swimmingly in the summer, maintaining cute hair when you're outside sweating isn't so easy. That's why we talked to top celebrity hairstylists for their best ideas on the summer hairstyles that'll get you through all your outdoor escapades.

It is possible to keep hair breezy, natural and ... slightly ... tamed even while the temperature and humidity rises. The key is embracing, not fighting, your summer hair's texture. These hairstyles will stay out of your sweaty (oh, we mean glowing) face and make you feel cooler than ever.

Another secret to maintaining the perfect summer styles is cranking up your hair care. Vince Smith of the eponymously named salon in New York City (he's styled models for shows at New York's Fashion Week) shares some of his conditioning tips:

· Wear SPF protection in your hair before going out in the sun. Try a leave-in spray.
· Apply a leave-in conditioner before going swimming in the pool. It'll help prevent chlorine from absorbing into the hair.
· Use an after-sun hair masque if you've been soaking in the sun for more than an hour. It'll help repair any damage.

Various celebrity hairstylists including Adir Abergel, Jeffrey Martinez, and Kara Silverman, to name a few, walked us through exactly how they gave these celebrities their red-carpet dos and how to do other trendy styles seen on: Kristen Stewart, Kerry Washington, Bar Refaeli, Rosario Dawson, Reese Witherspoon, Rachel McAdams, Gwen Stefani, January Jones, Zoe Saldana and Whitney Port.
