This Barbie's Got Back

See what happens when an artist puts the freakish dimensions of our favorite plastic babe into real-world proportion

That dress would be hard for anyone to pull off

You've seen those stories before: If Barbie were a real woman she'd be anorexic, hunched over from her massive chest, and unable to walk on her freakishly tiny feet. The pictures of Barbie reconfigured to "life size" are bizarre, too. But what if you took that idea and flipped it around?

That's what artist Nikolay Lamm did when he scaled down the average 19-year-old's measurements and created a "normal" version of Barbie.

The result? With the exception of the blonde hair and vacant stare, she looks totally different and 100 percent adorable -- the kind of doll we'd happily give our nieces to play with. (She also looks like she'd be easier to dress. Anyone remember trying to jam the "real" Barbie into a pair of leggings?) Lamm says he thinks this version of the doll could have a positive impact on little girls and hopes Mattel jumps on board.

What do you think? Should Barbie get a body makeover? Click through the slides to see the difference.
