And the Latest Designer to Add Nail Polish to Their Repertoire Is...

A top design house borrows inspiration not from gowns but cars for a high-gloss finish

Over the weekend I attempted a DIY deep red manicure (Sadly, I do not recommend trying this at home). Despite spending an hour in the hunched-over position, meticulously applying polish, it took me three or more swipes to cover each nail, which left my manicure a thick and goopy mess. Which brings me to my next gripe: how tough it is to remove dark red polish. It's like trying to conceal blood at a crime scene (or so I assume from watching Dexter). Fast forward to today, when I find out that high-end designer Giorgio Armani is jumping on the beauty line bandwagon with a nail polish collection that makes a lot of promises -- namely that the custom-made brush (designed in the oh-so-chic Armani laboratories) can coat an entire nail in just one stroke.

The gel-fluid technology, inspired by car lacquer, of all things, makes nails so shiny that no topcoat is needed. One less step? Yes, please. Fewer steps means fewer chances to screw up an at home mani. Throw in the claim of a streak-free, bubble-free application, and they're promising the polish I thought only existed in my imagination. And even if they fall a little short (how often does a product, even a great one, live up to Every. Single. Claim?), the 18 glossy colors are undeniably gorgeous and come in three categories to satisfy your every polish whim -- from passionate reds to couture nudes to sophisticated aquatic blues. Click through to find the color for you (word on the street is that the oxblood is perfection). Now, if someone could just invent a polish that comes off as easily as it goes on -- no crime scene clean-up required.
