Lindsey's night look
When Lindsey got her hands on the Pixi Eye Glow Cube - Lucent Lid Light, $28, available at Target, she decided to layer on the shadow to create a dramatic smoky eye.

Step 1: Lindsey used the mauve shade (1) in the inner corners of her eyes and along her brow bone.
Step 2: Then she applied the lilac-y gray shade (2) in her crease.
Step 3: She finished up with a little black eyeliner and mascara and a swipe of the peachy blush in the palette (3).

"I loved how my eyes looked using this collection," Lindsey says. "Usually it's hard for me to get a smoky eye that is just right (it's always too dark or too light), but this look really just made my eyes pop."

Tiffanie's night look
It's Tiffanie's turn to put her spin on the NP Set Glam Set, $24, available at Target. She went for a silvery smoky eye and pink lip.

Step 1: After applying her usual foundation, Tiffanie used the coral blush in the palette (1).
Step 2: Then Tiffanie applied the lightest eyeshadow shade (2) on her lids and up into her brow bone.
Step 3: She used the rose gold shade (3) on her lids.
Step 4: Then she used the darkest two shades (4, 5) in the outer corners of her eyes and smudged along her lower lashline.
Step 5: She finished her eyes with black eyeliner and mascara.
Step 6: Finally, Tiffanie used the coral lip gloss in the palette (6) for a pop of color on her lips.

"I always love a dark smoky eye for after-work outings," Tiffanie says. "Even though the shadow was dark, using the lighter shades and highlighter up to my eyebrows helped keep the look from being too dramatic."

Do you really need an overflowing bag of makeup to look gorgeous for a night out? Or can a few simple palettes -- filled with the right products -- get the job done much more simply? That's the question we're aiming to answer with this two-part dare.

First, we challenged ourselves to create office-ready looks using one of three makeup palettes. (Click here to see the day looks we created.) Then we gave these same palettes to our little sister site BeautyRiot.com to see what sorts of night looks they could come up with.
