There Is A Miss World Pageant Impostor

Plus Karen Elson's snake venom secrets, Vivienne Westwood on buying clothes and more of the top stories of the day
• Well this is crazy: 18-year-old Rakhima Ganieva is claiming to be Miss Uzbekistan at this year's Miss World competition, held in Indonesia. The only problem? There is no Miss Uzbekistan. That's because the mostly-Muslim country doesn't hold beauty pageants. But so far, it appears that Ganieva has been allowed to compete in the pageant. But Uzbek officials aren't happy about it. And they got catty about it! A representative from the Uzbek Culture and Sports Ministry and the National Committee on Women said, "if there had been a process to choose a young lady for this competition, I can assure you that a much more beautiful model would have been chosen. I'm sorry that Ganieva is choosing to build a career on lies." Ouch! [Daily Mail]

• What does Karen Elson love? The model and ex-wife of rocker Jack White is a sunscreen fanatic, and loves her red hair, though there are occasional days when she'd like to be a blonde. Her red head tips? "We're so fair, so it's all about managing your fair skin. That, for me, is the most important. I live in a very hot place, so I'm always in a hat and protecting myself from the sun. The sun is not my friend. If you can find a good sunscreen that doesn't give you bad skin, that's great. I've found this amazing one from Sonya Dakar that's effortless. It feels like you have nothing on. It's got this kick of synthetic snake venom that totally zings your face. Finding a good conditioner is a must, too, because red hair can get particularly dry." Okay, snake venom. Cool. [Refinery 29]

• You love the warm, nutty scent of MoroccanOil, yes? Good, because the haircare line just came out with its own fragrant candle. Just don't accidentally put it in your hair. [BellaSugar]

• This crazy bun is a can't-miss beauty dare. Could you wear? [Total Beauty]

• Hey poor people, Vivienne Westwood thinks you should stop buying clothes, okay? Speaking, ironically at her own London Fashion Week show, she said, "Buy less. Choose well. Make it last. Quality, not quantity. Everybody's buying far too many clothes ... I mean, I know I'm lucky, I can just take things and borrow them and I'm just okay, but I hate having too many clothes. And I think that poor people should be even more careful. It doesn't mean therefore you have to just buy anything cheap. Instead of buying six things, buy one thing that you really like. Don't keep buying just for the sake of it." [The Gloss]
