Shocking But True: Jamba Juice Now Sells ... Juice

The smoothie chain has introduced a line of fruit and veggie derived bevvies
You'd think (if you really had/took the time to think about these things) that Jamba Juice would've been one of the first companies to hitch its wagon to the rising star that is (was?) juicing. After all, it's a successful, ubiquitous franchise that, as the name would have us believe, sells juice, right?

Weeeelll, not exactly. Thing is that JJ, which started way back in 1990 in Cali as the "Juice Club," has veered far -- very far -- from its origins. Over the years, they slowly integrated sugar-tastic smoothies into their menu until, surprise!, there wasn't any plain old, good for ya juice to be had.

Now, Jamba is putting the JUICE back in their name and their slate of offerings.

IN a much-needed return to its roots, its more than 800 stores across our fair nation will offer freshly made (not cold-pressed) beverages to its customers. Newly-minted MBA ("Master of Blending Art") employees will blend up an impressively varied menu of new concoctions, including Great Greens with apple, cucumber, baby spinach, Swiss chard, kale, and chia seeds, and the one I can't wait to try, Carrot Cayenne with carrots, apples, ginger, and cayenne pepper,

Oh, and just to be sure they're crossing all their Ts this time 'round, Jamba Juice is also pursuing the "organic" and "locally sourced" key words and initiatives that customers (thankfully) have such bees in their bonnets about.

Bonus: These freshly extracted nectars will run you significantly less than they might at other juice bars. Expect to pay $7.60 for a 16-ounce cup -- downright reasonable when you take in the competition.
