Miss USA Finalist Heralded for "Normal" Body Type (Read: She's Not Hollywood-Skinny)

Mekayla Diehl, aka Miss Indiana, won over fans with her "normal" body and healthy approach to diet and exercise
She may not have walked away with the dozen roses on Sunday in Baton Rouge but Miss Indiana, Mekayla Diehl, did make it to the Top 20 of the Miss USA Pageant -- and earned a whole lotta props (and fans) in the process.

Beauty queens always earn fans, right? Sure, but Diehl has garnered a following for more than her work with victims of abuse and being able to string together enough words to formulate a coherent sentence. The 25-year-old has amassed a diehard Twitter following for not being, as one fan wrote, "a bag of bones."

"I like to fill my plate with vegetables and protein. I like a good steak, or grilled chicken. I love fish," Diehl told a local Louisiana paper following the competition, adding that she exercises, but doesn't go overboard; "I take my dog for walks, ride bikes, go on hikes," she said. "I jump rope, I do plyometrics."

The disturbing part about all this attention -- Diehl appeared on Fox News yesterday and says she's going to be on the Today show next week, is that, let's face it, at 5'8" and a size 4, the Indiana native, is hardly a "normal" weight but when compared with her competition who are typically super skinny with many, um, augmentations, she looks downright hefty -- and that's what the crowd appreciates so much.
