How Much Lipstick Went Into the Making of This Record-Breaking Makeup Mural?

A major cosmetics company sets a Guinness World Record
Mary Kay, you devilish minx! The cosmetics company just broke the world record for the largest makeup painting. The company created a makeup-made artwork that measured 608 square feet, besting the previous piece by 51 meters. But it wasn't easy. The artwork required 10 artists to work around 1,000 hours each over 16 days, and the 8' x 76' painting used more than 3,500 Mary Kay products, including liquid foundation, lipstick, eye shadow and primer. And you didn't even know there was a world record in makeup artwork, did you?

The mural was commissioned in honor of the company's 50th anniversary. "We wanted to celebrate Mary Kay's 50th anniversary in a big, visual way and the opportunity to set the Guinness World Records title with the biggest painting made out of makeup products seemed only fitting," said Sheryl Adkins-Green, CMO for the brand.

And here's a fun fact about the first years of Mary Kay: The first-ever Mary Kay meeting was held in the company's warehouse, and Mary Kay Ash herself cooked all the food for the event's 200 attendees. What a renaissance woman! [Source]
