JFK's Favorite Fragrance Is Back!

The custom-designed French scent Eight & Bob is available once more
Want your man to smell as good as John F. Kennedy did? Now he can! That's because the president's favorite fragrance Eight & Bob has returned to the market.

Eight & Bob, the legend goes, was discovered by Kennedy during a fated run in with French perfumer and bon vivant Albert Fouquet in 1937. Kennedy told the handsome Fouquet that he fancied the way he smelled, so Fouquet bottled up the stuff and left it at JFK's hotel room, with a note reading "In this jar, you will find the dash of French glamour that your American personality lacks." Ouch!

Insults aside, JFK loved it, and wrote Fouquet back, asking for an additional eight bottles, and "if your production allows, another one for Bob" (that's Robert Kennedy, to us). Fouquet obliged, and named the fragrance after the president's request: Eight and Bob.

Tragically, Fouquet was killed in a car accident just two years later, but his assistant carried on making the fragrance for decades, though the recipe still remains secret. We do know that the fragrance is largely based on a Chilean plant Fouquet called "Andrea." The plant has an extremely short growing season, and can only be harvested in December and January, making Eight & Bob even more special.

The recipe for Eight & Bob was lost for decades, but has recently been rediscovered by Fouquet's heirs -- which is good news for fragrance connoisseurs everywhere.

The looks and the power we can't promise you, but the scent? Sure. [Source]
