Giving Up Wine Can Improve Your Complexion

Plus the ridiculousness of runway nail art, the French say no to baby beauty pageants, and more of the top stories of the day
• A woman gave up drinking for a month and her complexion radically improved. Laura Hogarth, 40, drank around five huge glasses of wine a week -- and when she gave it up, all the redness in her face disappeared and she lost three pounds. Perhaps, some of that redness was due to being allergic to the nitrates in wine? Hmmm... Either way, there's still no way we'd give up our cocktails, but we'll definitely get off red wine. [Daily Mail]

• There are a couple of takeaways from the America's Next Top Model ridiculous nail art challenge. One, Tyra must be really, super desperate to do something different after so many endless seasons of model challenges. No one needs to see models walk their fingers down a fake finger-sized runway! And two: She's still trying to make "pot ledum" happen. Stop it, Tyra! [Buzzfeed]

• France would like you to keep your grubby Toddlers and Tiaras hands off its children, mmkay? The French are making a move to ban child beauty pageants. No Honey Boo Boo for them! [The Cut]

• In case you weren't sure what the fever and aches you've been experiencing were all about, Kleenex has created a helpful "cold and flu prediction" tool. It uses actual science data from the Centers for Disease Control to determine what cities are due for a major influx of illness. Very clever! [Fast Company]

• Please say it ain't so: the mullet appears to have made a return. It was seen on models at Marc Jacobs during his Fall 2013 show, and now the business in front/party in the back hairstyle is featured on model Edie Campbell in the designer's fall ads. Paging Kenny Powers! [Fashionista]
