Gap Steps Up And Supports Sikh Ads

Plus Axe gets the ax, Philip Treacy designs Brit Award, and more of the top stories of the day
• After some of its ads featuring Sikh actor Waris Ahluwalia were defaced, Gap did something actually pretty cool: They moved the ads to the main page of their Facebook and Twitter pages. Since then, support for Ahluwalia and Gap's "Make Love" campaign has been pouring in. "It felt awesome walking past this poster wearing turban ... ! #sikhi #proud." wrote one commenter. Pretty friggin' cool! [Racked]

• British milliner and punk icon Philip Treacy designed the new 2014 Brit Awards statue, which honors the best new British and international music. Treacy also designed the headpieces that Lady Gaga wore to the 2010 Brit Awards and hey, the statue kind of looks like her. [WWD]

• Teenage girls in Pennsylvania, put down that Paris Hilton perfume: a state rep there wants to put the kibosh on spraying yourself with scent in schools, after a student fell sick with a severe reaction to Axe Body Spray. Well, Axe is pretty terrible, so we understand. [Consumerist>]

• Women spend, on average, around 627 hours PER YEAR worrying about their appearance. That's one month out of the year according to a new British study of 2,000 women. That is ... very depressing (and likely very accurate, if we're personally any indication). [Daily Mail]

• If women actually looked like designers' sketches, it would be really, truly, terrifying. [Upworthy]
