Essie Weingarten built an empire on creating colors like Turks & Caicos and Bikini So Teeny (a personal fave). She lives and breathes nails, so it makes sense that her family would be all up in the nail biz, too. In an interview with Into the Gloss, Weingarten talks about how she got started her business more than 30 years ago with just $10,000. She sold the polish door-to-door before getting it into stores.

Today Essie is a world wide brand with about a zillion colors. But what shade does Weingarten wear? These days, "I'm wearing Who's She Red," she said. I used to always wear sheers -- everyone knows me to wear one coat of either Ballet Slippers with Mademoiselle, or Blushing Bride with Sugar Daddy, or Vanity Fairest with Aurora. But recently, I've been doing lots of reds." And she's not the only one in the Weingarten family who likes a polished look.
