• Women who have the BRCA gene mutation are much less likely to die if they have a double mastectomy than if they simply have one breast removed, a new study found. Researchers are urging doctors to recommend double mastectomies to young women with the genes as an aggressive treatment option for young women who are in the early stages of breast cancer treatment.
