Date Night Idea: Get a Massage

Forget dinner and a movie, massage is my go-to Friday night activity
My favorite spa isn't in a high-end Beverly Hills hotel or a resort in the Maldives -- it's a Chinese foot massage joint around the corner from my house.

When we are able to carve out some time for a date night, instead of heading a hot new restaurant, we get $20 massages. You keep your clothes on, which makes the experience more relaxed (and faster), and they focus on your head, shoulders and feet. It may not be a full-body, four-handed, super-luxe treatment, but it definitely gets the job done. And we love getting pampered together.

These days, I think the importance of touch is seriously undervalued. We all spend so much time touching our smartphones that we forget to touch each other. But human touch releases the happy hormone oxytocin and reduces stress -- it's a scientific fact.

This weekend, cancel your dinner reservations and book a massage. And if you don't have a cheapie place nearby, pick up a bottle of massage oil and try DIY. It may just be the best date you've had in years.
