The Bionym Bracelet Makes Your Password Your Heartbeat

The future of password protection
Pretty soon you'll be able to log on to your computer, access your bank account, and even board a flight, simply by sharing your heartbeat. If it sounds terribly futuristic, that's because it is, and that's exactly how biotech company Bionym likes it.

They've created a new wristband called Nymi which identifies users by heartbeat. That's right: The wristband uses ECG technology to assign you a unique identity. That identity then does all the work when it comes to identifying you in the virtual and real world. Your heartbeat imprint is stored on your bracelet, and is connected to whatever apps and services you want, be they doctor's offices, bank accounts, or utilities.

Nymi's developers see it as having great usefulness in emergencies, too: If someone is unconscious and without idea, for example, emergency services could use your Bionym bracelet to identify you and find out what your allergies are.

And it's fairly affordable, too. The Nymi should be available to consumers by mid-year, and is available for pre-order for $79. Would you buy one? [Business Insider]
