Adam Levine Engaged (To A Model, Of Course)

Plus Alexa Chung on copycats, a novel new mosquito repellant and other news we're talking about today.
• Serial modelizer and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine is off the market! He's engaged to Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo. According to his rep, Levine and Prinsloo "recently reunited and Adam proposed this weekend in Los Angeles. Levine was also recently linked to 21-year-old model Nina Agdal, and ended a two-year relationship with Vicky Secret model Anne Vyalitsyna in 2012. (He has a tattoo with her name on it, too.) No word on when the pair will actually wed, but we can imagine that it'll be pretty awkward backstage at the next Victoria's Secret runway show. [Source]

• Tired of being snacked on by a gnarly gang of mosquitoes? Us too. Good thing science has developed a handy mosquito deterrent system: An electric fan. Simulated wind diffuses the sweat, smells and delicious pheromones that make us so attractive to them. And this is why scientists get paid the big bucks. [Source]

• Alexa Chung, the British model who launched a thousand copy cat haircuts in Brooklyn, says it's totally cool if you wanna copy her style. In a new series of videos for shopping site My Theresa, Chung says copy-catting is no big deal, because "f you are emulating someone's style it's going to be different, because you have a different attitude, face, and haircut." Thanks, Alexa! [Source]

• File Under: Things I Never Hope To Do. Scientists have figured out how to use urine -- yes, urine -- to charge cell phones. Researchers at the University of Bristol in England created a fuel cell that can harness urine to generate electricity. "The beauty of this fuel source is that we are not relying on the erratic nature of the wind or the sun," said engineer Ioannis Ieropoulos. "We are actually reusing waste to create energy." Still, gross. [Source]

• Well this is crazy (no pun intended): An article in the journal Medical Hypotheses posits that there's a connection between high heels and schizophrenia. Says Jarl Flensmark, an increase in heeled shoes in an area correlates to an increase in schizophrenia in the population. High heels, he says, reduce stimulation of something called mechanoreceptors. That reduced stimulation has a profound impact on brain chemistry. Yet another reason to pack some flats. [Source]
