Absence Really Does Make The Heart Grow Fonder

Plus the death of John Casablancas, Gwyneth Paltrow's wetsuit of choice and other news were talking about today
• The secret to long-lasting love may be keeping your significant other as far away from you as possible. A new study published in the Journal of Communication, found that couples in long distance relationships "have more meaningful interactions than those who see each other on a daily basis." What? Asking my boyfriend to pass the remote isn't meaningful? [Source]

• On Friday, fashion and beauty legend John Casablancas passed away at the age of 70 after a prolonged battle with cancer. Casablancas was the founder of Elite Model Management and largely responsible for the creation of what we all now know as the "supermodel." Casablancas helped launch the careers of Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Carol Alt, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, Andie MacDowell, Kim Alexis, Paulina Porizkova, Iman, and Heidi Klum -- to name just a few. • Wake up sleepyhead! If you won't, your coffee maker might just do it for you. A new very-necessary invention from Douwe Egberts senses your tiredness level, and brews up a cup for you when you yawn (which basically means my kitchen would be flooded in coffee constantly) Okay, okay, so maybe it's just a clever marketing stunt, but we would so buy this if it was actually available on the market. Are you listening Douwe Egberts? [Source]

• This past weekend more than 1,500 women (and men!) took to the streets in their bras for the first ever U.S. Moonwalk. Originally a U.K. initiative, the all-night power-walking party raises funds for a variety of breast cancer charities, and gives women the opportunity to show off their crafty homemade bra creations. "Women love doing what they shouldn't be doing, and here they are in their bras," explained organizer Nina Barough of the event's success. So true. [Source]

• Gwyneth Paltrow has her feet firmly planted in reality. It's her dogged dedication to "keeping it real" that motivates her to sell super practical items like a $675 leather bracelet -- or this $295 specially-made-for-goop Cynthia Rowley metallic gold neoprene wetsuit for $295. Unfortch, the wetsuit's already sold out, (who knew goop readers were such big surf fanatics?) so you may have to settle for some neoprene leggings instead. [Source]
