Nail Art You Can Do At Home (Just Employ a Friend Like I Did)
Confession: I was too exhausted and lazy to mimic a celeb's hairstyle today (Fridays are supposed to be casual and laid back, right?) so I don't have a new picture to show you. I promise to catch up on my challenge next week.

To fill the void, I thought I'd show off my newly polished fingernails. Aren't they nice? I've noticed that all of the teeny bopper celebs have been sporting nail art lately, and though I think they look adorable, I was a bit skeptical of attempting the trend myself (figured I'm just too old). Then my friend Anna talked me into it ... by offering to actually do my nails for me.

That's right -- I DID NOT go to a nail salon to get these pretty red digits. She just pulled out her polish stash (see exhibit A next to my nails) and went to work.

First, she had me paint my nails with two coats of OPI Classic Shades Nail Lacquer in Keys to My Karma, $8.50. Once they were dry, she pulled out another OPI polish in Black Onyx and painted the tips of my nails (the girl's got serious skills).

Last, she picked up a toothpick -- I'm not kidding -- and dipped it into an orange shade of polish and made a tiny stripe on my nail tips, then a small diamond shape on my thumbs.

So ... what do you think? Though I won't have my nails done like this often, it's a fun little change.
