From Top Model To Top Restauranteur

Plus why you choose the friends you do, the singing baby doctor and more of the top stories of the day
• Prepare your palate: Whitney Thompson, the first plus-size winner of America's Next Top Model (in Cycle 5,453 or whatever), just opened her first restaurant in Springfield, Tennessee. Seems like a logical career move for an ANTM winner. But what we wanna know: Has Tyra tried the food yet? [Jezebel]

• Speaking of restaurants, Guy Fieri, of the bleached tips and the gut-busting restaurant menus, is launching brunch. BRUNCH. Brunch will be served at his Guy Fieri's Vegas Kitchen and Bar location, and it is, as you might imagine, large and in charge. [Eater]

• Stress eating is totally the worst, isn't it? I mean, you knew it was bad for you, but researchers found a direct correlation between stress eating and fat storage. Being stressed out while you eat makes your body store even more fat than you might normally. UGH. [Fit Sugar]

• And now for something completely cute: Singing doctor Carey Andrew-Jaja has given birth to more than 8,000 babies in his career. And he's sang to each and every one of them. His song of choice? "Happy Birthday," of course! [Huffington Post]

• So okay, this is pretty crazy, but science says (hey science, what's up!?) that part of why we choose the friends that we do is because they have similar genetic backgrounds to us. Researchers think it's a protective device we've developed. "It's as if we were surrounding ourselves with a new family," says researcher James Fowler, a professor of medical genetics at the University of California, San Diego, who conducted the study. "It's the family we chose, rather than the family we're born with." [NPR]
