The Best Nail Polish (by Far) is Only $2

A new study found the cheapest polish is the pick of the litter
A $2 nail polish was found to be more long lasting and better than all of the high end polishes out there, according to a recent Consumer Reports test. The winning polish is manufactured by a company called Sinful Colors -- ever heard of it? Neither had we until this study came out. Testers found that the lacquer took somewhat longer to dry than other brands but that it looked better and laster longer than high end polishes like CND, Revlon and even Chanel (which costs a whopping $27 a bottle) over time.

Chanel, said testers, actually began chipping the day it was applied, and seven of the ten panelist rated it problematic. Nutra Nail gel polish was also rated poorly, with testers complaining that it began chipping the day they put it on. Sally Hansen and CoverGirl's polishes, reported testers, still looked good on day 7 and remained fair by day 10.

While Sinful Colors came out on top, Revlon Colorstay, which costs $6.20 a bottle, and CND's Vinylux Weekly Polish, $9.90 a bottle, also scored well. The takeaway? Just because it's expensive doesn't mean it actually does the job better. We'll take the $2 polish, please. [Consumer Reports]
