Ski Trip Beauty Essentials

Add these picks to your toiletries bag to look cute and feel great when you're playing in the snow

You've packed your skis and your puffy coat and you can't wait to hit the slopes. And while the fresh powder and spiked cider are going to make you one happy ski bunny, the potential beauty bummers -- you know, those chapped lips, that dry skin, and the crazy flyaways that come along with mountain town fun -- are real. Very real.

Here's what to pack to sidestep all of those potential ski-trip beauty disasters:

A lip balm (or five)
It may seem like a no-brainer, but packing a tube (or two) of a super-moisturizing lip balm will go a long way toward keeping you from licking your (chapped) lips in pain. Use it liberally, people. Bonus points if it's got a pretty tint.

A hydrating shampoo and conditioner
Yes, you could use the stuff that comes with your ski-in/ski-out condo. But unless you're staying at the Four Seasons, it's probably going to be some no-name brand that dries your hair out like crazy. Not exactly what you need in a dry, mountain town. So, pack your own and make sure it's a super-hydrating formula that adds softness and shine.

Diaper rash cream
OK, we know this sounds insane, but hear us out: A good diaper cream ointment is the best at healing chapped cheeks on contact. After a full day of as many runs as you can squeeze in before the lifts close, rub a little on any spots that are super-dry and you'll be golden.

A super-moisturizing body cream
When you're at a high altitude, the dry air will drain the life out of your skin. Instantly. Which means you need to start slathering on a body cream the minute you get there. Don't mess around with any old moisturizing lotion -- a thick, rich body cream is what you need.
