Sleek, Slick, Does the Job

Before I tried Paula's Choice lip exfoliator, I tried ELF's. There is a LOT to like about this version. It has a slick, sleek black lipstick-like container. It is easy to apply. The smell is so sumptuous that you want to eat it instead of using it. After following instructions, dry skin did come off my lips. I found that Paula's Choice was a tad more potent, but I am still loving this product!

Like it very much! Does the job and feels good on the lips...

I like this exfoliator a lot. I know that a lot of people complain about it becoming too grainy when you get closer to the end, but it’s never been a problem for me. So this lip exfoliator comes in a black tube and I think that the packaging is identical to “e.l.f.”’s “Studio” lipsticks. You will immediately notice how amazing it smells (for those who don’t mind fragrance in their ...read morelip products, of course). It smells like a mixture of vanilla and caramel. When you twist it up it looks like a taupe colored lipstick with grains of sugar in it. I’m not sure if the grains are made out of sugar, but they definitely taste like it and they do melt if your lips are hot. Therefore , I would not recommend using this exfoliator in the shower. I tried it once and realized that my lips didn’t exfoliate at all because the heat was melting the grains as soon as they touched my lips. I think the best time to use this product is right after you come out of the shower. With that being said, it still works amazingly even if you use it in the middle of the day or just before applying your lipstick. Do be careful though, because it is possible to over exfoliate with this. I loved the feeling of it on my lips so much that the first couple of times I used it, it actually made my lips soar… It just feels so stimulating for the lips as well - you almost feel like you are massaging them for the first time in your life... And after you finish exfoliating with this product, your lips are left very soft, moisturized and tasting a bit like sweet vanilla. I actually wish that they would sell another version of this without the grains just for the purpose of moisturizing your lips because it feels really nice on. So yes, I do recommend this product to everyone. I actually think that it’s very comparable in quality to some higher end versions of “stick” exfoliators.

Too harsh for me

I wanted to like this for so many reasons. This brand is so wonderfully affordable, plus this product has what I consider a most pleasant and not too sweet vanilla scent. When it was on a window sill for the duration of a very long, very hot shower it worked beautifully and I loved it. But if I had to use it cold or at room temperature? So most of the time it was too harsh for me, and sometimes it was too hard to even get any exfoliation out of it at all and it was just a waste of time and energy. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this one and I will not be continuing to use it. Which is a shame because of the affordability and my general love for this brand. Just my luck, I very much prefer a way more expensive lip exfoliator.

The product you never knew you had to have!

With winter alive in the midwest (albeit early and colder than usual) my normal routine of just using a toothbrush or washcloth was no longer enough. I am obsessed with lip balm but just could not get rid of this dry flaky skin in the center of my lips. This product is a God send!! It comes in a sleek black lipstick tube and the formula is sugar based with a sweet taste. I rub it back and forth fo...read morer at least a minute as part of my daily evening routine, then top it off with vaseline or a heavy coat of lip balm. Sure, I could use sugar and olive oil but this is so convenient, easy and not the least bit messy! AND for under $3 it is well worth it. This is a happy girl! :)

Love!

I got this product about 2 weeks ago because my lips have a tendency to peel. I love wearing lipstick but it looks so unappealing when I would apply it over the parts of my lips that were peeling because lipstick seems to enhance those parts and I would get annoyed so I would start to bite my lips which would make them start to bleed. I have tried Lip balms and Vaseline but they seem to help wit...read moreh chapped lips but not to get rid of that dead peeling skin. So I do like some of elf's products and I saw this lip exfoliater at Walmart for 3 dollars and I got it. When I opened it later that night I noticed the black sleek packaging, it's very classy and professional looking. When I took off the cap, I noticed the smell, it smells like coconut and sugar, it's a very sweet and pleasant smell. And it's like a lipstick making it easy to apply. Then I followed the directions, I cleaned off my lips, and began to apply by gently rubbing my lips in a circular motion (be careful not to rub too hard because it is a little rough since its supposed to remove the dead skin) When I was done I rubbed my lips together and noticed how yummy it tastes too! I had to stop myself from licking my lips! So then I took a wet cotton ball and cleaned off my lips and then applied a lip moisturizer. I have done this for almost 2 weeks now and my lips are no longer peeling! No more dead skin or biting my lips, they are so much more smooth and now my lips look great when I apply my lipstick! I love this and I have no complaints, it does what it's supposed to!

Love the lipstick like application!

I love that it's a scrub in the shape of lipstick! I haven't seen this anywhere else. It does exfoliate the lips nicely but it DOES take a little bit of effort to get that exfoliation.

first time user impressed

I have had this lip exfoliator for some time. I have used it several times and love it. It makes my lips so smooth. By taking the dead skin off and smoothing the lips, it just makes the lip stick go on much better. The one I have is the grapefruit scent. It does not take very much at all and you don't have to push very hard at all either. Everyone should be able to use this.

New Lip Exfoliator 2016

Received this in December and so far works as well as, if not better than, lip scrubs. It has a sweet lip balm taste after wiped away. I use this before using the Younique Stiff Upper Lip Lip Stain. It helps maintain the color for an extended period of time while removing dead skin. I use this exfoliator up to 5 times a week. For $2-3, you can't beat the value. Definitely one of my go to products from ELF.
