No Bubbles--And Little Moisture, Sheen, and Manageability

I had the chance to try Nelson "Argan Oil 7 Non-Foaming Shampoo" at a discount from another great site. It can be pricey--at least $22.00--and I thought it would be a great help in streamlining my hair routine. It is along the same concept as Wen's cleansing conditioner. Nelson Shampoo is meant as a seven-in-one product: It is supposed to function as shampoo, conditioner, detangler, sheen enha...read morencer, smoothing serum, color protector, and a styling product at the same time. One of the things I most enjoy about it is that it is free of ingredients which strip hair of its natural oils and damage the cuticle. I was sure I was ready for a non-foaming product which would save my hair from damage and save me time. Directions are to completely rinse hair before applying this creamy lotion, beginning with your scalp and then massaging it through the remainder of your hair. Hair is supposed to feel silky and smooth; my hair isn't in perfect condition, but it's in good condition, and I did not experience any satin-like feel. I found it unduly thick and hard to work through my hair at all. The peppermint scent is eerily reminiscent of toothpaste. Once it is in hair, you leave it there for three minutes or for the duration of your shower. I hoped that something would change in three minutes, but it didn't--my hair wasn't terribly dry, but I couldn't run a comb through it after rinsing very well. I did wrap my hair in a towel and dried it afterward, but it was definitely lacking manageability, softness, and sheen. I struggled more than I ever do with normal shampoo and conditioner. What was perhaps one of the most disappointing aspects was that my hair didn't feel truly cleansed; it was as if I needed to rinse more, but I had rinsed for several minutes, longer than I needed to. And, in truth, I missed bubbles. Maybe I shouldn't equate bubbles with cleanliness, but I cannot recommend this shampoo in good conscience.

Horrible

This shampoo is absolute junk. I used it exactly as directions recommended, in fact lathered twice, since I have long thick hair and it is absolutely impossible to tell if you apply enough and if all parts of scalp and hair got covered. When I got to blowdrying my hair, I realized that it was a huge mistake to use that product. My scalp did not get cleaned properly, my hair felt dry, lifeless, no...read moret very clean and dull- yes, I did rinse the "shampoo" as well as it was possible, it just didn't clean well. I can see how people with bleached, fine or porous hair might *in theory* like that kind of shampoo, but if if you have normal or thick, long hair, just don't waste your money and time. I would not recommend this product, and would definitely not buy it again (hey, they want $22 for that thing, they'd have to pay me more for using it again!). In fact, if you are willing to spend this much on shampoo, go for some sort of Kerastase, at least the results would be good.

Beads!!!

I tried the moisture healing masks first and became a fan so I gave the shampoo a try... Unfortunately, the beads do not get washed off and remain tangled in the hair which was my biggest turn off. The shampoo has a strong citrusy scent which I personally found to be too strong and overpowering. So much so that the scent of the moisture healing mask which I love was completely masked. If the shampoo was fragrance-free, I probably would have liked it better.
