This Will Stay with Me Forever!
Pretty much all cosmetics and beauty products are a temptation to me, but eyeshadows in particular are a great draw, my cosmetic addiction (a great shadow palette can drive me over the edge, especially one with lots of hues!). When I see a department store display of shadows, I fear I might actually begin to salivate as I dab the tones on my wrist, blending for unique combinations. Last summer, my husband and I were on our way to an outdoor picnic. It was one of the hottest, most humid days of the year. I was applying makeup in the car as my husband drove. WHAT? I had forgotten eyeshadow? I asked my husband to turn into the next drugstore and perused the display. Among the new items I saw was Revlon's "ColorStay 16-Hour Eyeshadow." Each compact comes with four perfectly coordinated matte and shimmer shades, made to work together and complement each other. I chose the “Moonlit” palette, an assortment of soft golden-kissed tan, a slightly glimmering taupe, the deepest, most velvety chocolate, and a glowing ecru. There is a very easy-to-follow schematic on the back, suggesting just one way you can use the various shades for a smoked-eye look. I was highly impressed at the silky, satiny texture of Revlon’s shadows (Revlon, in general, has been a go-to company for me and does not often let me down). If I were at home I would have worked with my own brushes, but the two-ended applicator included is surprisingly useful and has elongated ends which allow you to work shadow anywhere you like. Even applying along bumpy, jolting country roads, the final look was one I truly liked. I received numerous compliments on my eyes at the picnic, and when I used the ladies’ room later that night, I noted that the color had indeed stayed exactly where I placed it many hours before (and this was WITHOUT primer). Mixed feelings....
I bought the color Adventurous and I adore the white color it comes with. It's a shade like I've never seen that is the perfect pearly white with a gold sheen, perfect for highlighting my brow bone. I liked the colors it came with but the color payoff wasn't to my expectation. Even after packing 3 layers of this eyeshadow on, it didn't look pigmented enough. It was really dull and light. Would Adore it if It were Less Shimmery
I would give this a review of ten stars if the shades were less shimmery or at least included one matte shade in every quad. Regardlessr, they are awesome, longwear shadows that come in a spectacular array of colors. The four colors in each quad can be used together or they all stand well on their own as well. My one complaint is that nearly every shade in the compacts is shimmery. It is ok if us...read moreed alone but I try to not use a shimmery highlighter with a shimmery base and vice versa (at least not for daytime). Even the basic browns and blacks have glitter in them. Perfect Shadows
Yes, I use MAC and Urban Decay, but for the money these quads offer velvety, blendable colors which last a long, long time! I know I can apply for work and still look good at the end of the day. Not very pigmented
I have the Inspired quad (a very pretty palette with dark blue, light green, ivory, and teal shown in the description picture) and I expected WAY more from this product. It has hardly any pigment! I had to apply so much to my lids to get any color payoff, even with the dark blue! It does last a very long time, but I hardly ever use it because I own so many better alternatives. Better than any dept. Store brand!
I love this stuff! I am 45 years old and have used this eyeshadow for 10 years. It lasts ALL day. I put some over my eyeliner with a small brush and my liner lasts all day without smudging.
