Buyer Beware

I love the texture of liquid sunscreens--I love how they just melt into the skin so easily. I used to spend top dollar on Clarins or LaRoche-Posay liquid sunscreens because they seemed to make me very happy. Recently, I was at the drugstore and L'Oreal caught my attention with the Sublime Sun skin care line, particularly the liquid sunscreen. I was a bit hesitant to give this a try because I had g...read morerown so use to prestige products, but I figured I could return it anyways after a week if I didn't like it. Overall, I do like this product very much. It's extremely similar to Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen or LaRoche-Posay Anthelios--but at a fraction of the price. What used to cost me 38 and 30 respectively, only cost me 10 dollars with Sublime Sun. Another thing that thrilled me was that it didn't break me out. This did NOT leave me with a greasy white mask like other sunscreens can. Also, a bottle lasts forever even if you're liberal with it--just make sure to always shake verrrrry well before every use. My growing of skin care education really opened my eyes to this and most other sun screens on the market. First off, you REALLY need to put on a LOT of sunscreen in order to get the suggested spf level. They recommend about a teaspoon for your face. Most people will put what--maybe a nickle or quarter size? People don't know that unless you put on enough, you're barely getting ANY sun protection. Another thing, is that you need to put on sunscreen BEFORE you moisturize. Your skin can only absorb so much and it must absorb sunscreen in order to do it's job of protecting your skin. My biggest peeve about this product was that like most sunscreens, this has Oxybenzone in it, which is a no-no for skin because it causes a lot of free-radical production in your skin. Therefore, you need to frequently use products and ingest foods with high levels of anti-oxidants in order to neutralize these free radicals that will damage your skin and cause aging. It's strange that something that is meant to protect your skin will damage it in the long run. This product contains grape extract (vitamin E) which is an antioxidant that will (hopefully) try to neutralize some of the free-radicals made, but is quite low on the list. Although this product absorbs easily, doesn't cause me to break out, VERY budget friendly, and can be worn under make up---I won't be buying this product again because of the Oxybenzone, but also because of how high parabens are on the list. My advice is to please read up on new FDA/skin cancer prevention information to become better informed on what you're buying because you never know if those products might be hurting you!

Easy-to-use, quick-absorbing sunscreen

I don't wear sunscreens usually because it's such a trouble for me. But, I've been pleasantly surprised by L'Oreal Paris' Sublime Sun collection. They're easy to use and, best of all, they don't leave behind streaks or residue--unlike other sunscreens (like Neutrogena) that I've used in the past. I use L'Oreal Paris' Sublime Sun SPF 30 spray-on sunscreen for my exposed skin and use this product (S...read morePF 50+) for my face. Shake vigorously so the product comes out properly, and apply liberally. It's great for my combination skin! It also leaves your skin feeling soft. It is a bit pricey ($11+), but well worth it, in my opinion.

l'oreal sunscreen

I LOVE this sunscreen. I've been using it for a few months now, and though I was initially annoyed that it was like $10 for a teeny bottle...it has definitely lasted! I have combination skin...dry in some parts, oily in others, some redness, occasional acne. This sunscreen hasn't caused me any problems. I've worn it with and without makeup and it works equally well. not that great

I usually wear the Aveeno face sunscreen, but I decided to try this just to see if it worked better. Unfortunately, it doesn't. The Aveeno sunscreen makes me look glowy and more alive, this one makes me look paler and weird-looking. It's definitely a thick paste, it doesn't set into my skin all that well (very noticeable), and it smells kind of bad (smelled a little bit like diesel fuel to me - I don't know if there is some petroleum products in there or what).
