AMAZING!

I love LUSH. ***WHY I LOVE THEIR COMPANY: They have great products that are unique and fun, and the company is great as well. The co-creators are quirky and cool, the products are minimally packaged to reduce waste, they are against animal testing (they use human volunteers instead), they use ethically sourced ingredients, they use only vegetarian ingredients, they genuinely are a “green” comp...read moreany (in terms of their energy use, recycling/composting/re-using, using wind and low-impact hydro-electric power), and they get involved in ethical campaigns. It's a company that I LIKE to buy things from and am always excited to find new things to buy there. ***WHY I LOVE THIS PRODUCT: A very nice LUSH employee suggested I try this after I asked about trying a facial cleanser that would be good for my very oily, acne-prone skin. She swore that she used this product herself, and that it worked wonders, especially in combination with the Ocean Salt face scrub. I haven't tried the little sample of the salt face scrub, but I did decide to buy a small chunk of the Coalface. It's AMAZING. It is a little messy since it leaves gray residue, and I personally think it's a little spendy for soap (well, spendier than the drugstore acne products, but less than department store acne products). But it's really an amazing product—it's helped my skin clear up so much! I use my Clean & Clear makeup dissolving wipes to get off the makeup, and then I use Coalface to get my face squeaky clean (literally, squeaky clean!) It's a little bit drying, so it's best for people with really oily skin (although my boyfriend loves to steal it and use it, even though his skin is normal, and no acne). My only complaint is that the pieces of soap aren't perfectly rectangular (yes, a weird pet peeve, but still). In spite of that, I've already used up one bar of soap and am on to my second. I will definitely be repurchasing this over and over, since it's one of the few products that have kept my skin relatively clear.

clears pore

This is great to clear up pores. Lasts for many uses and is one of the best products out there. Doesn't smell that great though.

Not suited for dry skin

Smells weird and leaves dry skin really dry. Might be better suited for oily skin. Didn't like it.

Coal face

This was the first product I ever bought from LUSH. Instantly loved it. My face is all over the place, dry here and oily there. This stuff is great if you like it rough. But after awhile I felt it was drying my skin out too much being a bar. I switched to what I feel is that best of both world being a soft face mask and a nice cleaning soap all in one. And its still for those who like it rough.

Not a deep clean

Good for oily skin because it is a soap, so it is quite drying. When I used it, it felt like it didn't really do anything other than take off the oil on my face. It didn't seem like a very deep, effective clean to me.

Coal for a clear face?

Who would have thought? I have moderately oily skin and this works really well. It's part of my daily routine, and if I stop using it, I notice the acne sneaks back. It lasts awhile, that plus the solid format makes it great for travelling!

Is it the actual soap I love, or just the idea of the soap?

I love the idea of the charcoal, and what charcoal does. This is a very cool product. I don't love the fact that my teenage daughters are always snagging the bars I have because they love it too, but can't blame a girl for wanting something good.

Best cleanser!

This is the perfect product! It is eco-friendly, it lasts forever, it eliminates pimples and make your face less shiny all day! I've been using this for more than a year and I've convinced my boyfriend to use it too! I will buy this product all my life!

Great for oily skin

I really like this face wash, though not my favorite by lush it is my number 2( I alternate between this and Fresh Farmacy by Lush). Don't let the color scare you, It really doesn't make your skin black. It makes my skin feel really clean and oil free. This stuff rids of every drop of oil, so you might have to use a moisturizer after depending on your skin type. I don't because I don't want to add...read more more oil to my skin. I think this is one of the best facial cleansers I have ever tried. Way better than drugstore brands and it'snatural. I don't get much of an exfoliating feel from this. I feel a little scrubbing action but don't expect a rough exfoliation. If you have oily, acne prone skin like myself, it's perfect. No acids or chemicals but it does help clear up the skin. You just have to be patient and not expect it to happen over night.
