Rich, Heady, Unique

Powdery & Sensual

I used to wear this scent 10 years ago and thought maybe it was done, now. I got a sample at Nordstrom the other day and sprayed it on me. Boy. It really is timeless. It's powdery and musky and sensual beyond compare. It's a vanilla scent that is definitely not a drugstore vanilla.

Not for Me

I received this as a gift not long ago and was excited to try a perfume that is labeled a classic and seems to have that timeless quality. I would characterize the scent as an overpowering musk that is way to heavy for me. Spray it once and you bring a very strong, sharp musk with you all day. I usually don't shy away from more mature scents but this one may be past its prime. It reminds me of perfume a strict, older school principal would wear, not my thing.

My mother's;now mine!

Give this old classic a try, you won't be sorry.

Shalimar gets a bad rap as "grandma perfume," because it has been around long enough for women from previous generations to have loved it too. That's a shame, because it isn't dated, it isn't weird on a young woman, it is simply sublime. It has a vanilla heart, but it is spicy and a wee bit heavy and floral, and the dry down is so gorgeous that you will be huffing yourself surreptitiou...read moresly all day long. Puts today's candy-vanilla scents to shame! If you think 'fruity floral' is the perfect scent because you like sweet, try this instead, you'll get the sweetness and depth but won't smell yourself coming and going all over the place like everyone wearing Juicy Couture (which, to be fair, is also fab but is EVERYWHERE right now.)

This is a rich scent without being overpowering. It's subtle, interesting and a little powdery. It's one I probably will always use.

Great scent

This was my grandmother's sig scent. When I came across it as an adult, I wanted to be reminded of her but I thought it would be "an old lady" scent. So I tried it out and it's definitely not!! It is actually quite sexy, but sort of fresh and sophisticated too. I liked it so much that I bought a bottle and I still have it after quite a few yrs. I wear it on special occasions and always get compliments. Really a classic.
