Good News: Deciem and The Ordinary Are Back in Business

Fans of The Ordinary can breath a collective sigh of relief

After quite a scare over the past week-plus, it looks like Deciem and The Ordinary are officially back in business.

It was looking very touch and go for a moment there: Former CEO Brandon Truaxe first announced that The Ordinary would be shutting down operations in a video on Instagram. Following the video, Estee Lauder (28 percent minority owner of Deciem) filed an injunction against Truaxe, which was later granted; effectively removing him and promoting his co-CEO Nicola Kilner to sole CEO.

We make beautiful products. But the reality is that before beautiful products, we are a team of beautiful humans with deep hearts invested so heavily and lovingly in DECIEM. This love is what makes weeks like the last one so difficult. Following the court ruling on Friday we have now reopened all stores, offices, factories and warehouses. Together, we are committed to serving our customers, partners and everyone involved in this journey to the best of our humble abilities, and we are ready for the next part of our story to begin. Brandon will always be the founder of DECIEM. We will take the passion and values he has instilled within us as we continue to grow the brands we have created with transparency, integrity, authenticity, function and design. Thank you from the very bottom of our hearts to each and every person who has continued to support our journey. We look forward to sharing what's to come with you. 🐒❤

Now, after the big shake up, it's looking like Deciem and The Ordinary are already getting back on track. "Following the court ruling on Friday we have now reopened all stores, offices, factories and warehouses," wrote the brand in a statement posted to Instagram.

And even amidst all the drama, Deciem still gives Truaxe his due in its statement: "Brandon will always be the founder of DECIEM. We will take the passion and values he has instilled within us as we continue to grow the brands we have created with transparency, integrity, authenticity, function and design."

Relieved? We certainly are. (We weren't sure what we were going to do without our beloved The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane, $7.90).
