Total Beauty

These days, whether we're talking about fashion or beauty, there's one word that keeps popping up: deconstructed. Yep, it's as hot as a long smooch with Robert Pattinson (not that we've have first-hand experience).

For example, check out Hilary Duff's bridal hair -- as seen in the pages of "OK!" magazine. She takes a traditional high top-knot and essentially "makes it her own." (What did we ever do without this phrase? Thanks Paula.) Let's face it, there's nothing more classic and wedding-y than a bun, but the added texture and imperfect-ness makes potentially stuffy wedding hair so appropriate and right now.

Her wedding hair perfectly complements her "look at my curves" Vera Wang gown too: It's a little bit sexy, a bit romantic, but still young and unpretentious.

"Young celebs are loving the high, tousled bun because it's easy to do and it makes you look chic and sophisticated," says Edward Tricomi, celebrity hairstylist and co-owner of the Warren Tricomi Salons in New York City, Connecticut and Los Angeles.

Duff wore a similar style at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards in August -- the bun was a bit smaller, but she definitely had the same vibe going on. (Testing it out for her wedding day perhaps?) Vanessa Hudgens also rocked a similar updo on the red carpet at the Nylon Young Hollywood Party. So clearly, they're on to something. Here's how to recreate the bridal hair look for your big day:

Step 1: "Start by pulling your hair up into a high ponytail," says Tricomi, keep it loose and a little messy -- think fingers, not brush -- and secure with a hair elastic.

Step 2: "Tease the hair in the ponytail, spraying it lightly with hairspray as you go," he says (try Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray, $26 -- it helps fight frizz and contains UV filters and antioxidants that will protect hair.) This will add volume and texture and give your pins something to hold on to.

Step 3: "Afterwards, wrap the hair into a loose bun securing with bobby pins as you go." Don't get too caught up in making sure every hair is exactly in place -- you're going for a kind of a "oh, I just whipped this thing together but isn't it great" look.

Step 4: "Use a finishing spray at the end to make sure the style lasts all night." (We like TRESemme Naturals Finishing Spray $4.29 for it's natural-looking, non-shellac-y hold.)
