It's been quite the year for British royal weddings. First came Kate and William's blockbuster, and just this past weekend, Zara Phillips (the Queen's granddaughter) and her rugby player beau, Mike Tindall, tied the knot. Their nuptials at Canongate Kirk in Scotland were way more low-key than the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's televised affair (obviously!). But as befits any Royal wedding, there were plenty of gravity-defying, how-on-earth-is-that-staying-in-place hats -- and picture-perfect wedding day makeup ideas to steal.

"Zara Phillips chose a classic, more conservative style for her wedding look -- she is beautiful, so why over do it?" says celebrity hair and makeup artist Amanda Shackleton from nybridalbeauty.com. "Her makeup looked flawless."

Shackleton recommends a tinted moisturizer or a light coverage foundation such as Make Up For Ever HD Foundation, $40, to get a picture-perfect complexion. "This will provide minimal coverage, and also reflect light off the skin," she says, creating a great glow. "[Top that] with a light dusting of translucent powder."

Her eyes were extremely classic with a sweep of champagne-colored shimmer (try Nars Shimmer Eyeshadow in Edie, $22) and a dark brown eyeliner on the top and bottom (try MAC Superslick Liquid Eyeliner, $14). And her cheeks and lips were highlighted with a rosy color. "I just love Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for lips and cheeks, $22, to enhance the natural glow," says Shackleton. "And for any wedding, finish the eyes with a mascara that can withstand tears, she says. (Try Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara, $21.)

"Zara's beautiful blonde [hair was] swept back gracefully with a little bit of lift at the front of her face," says Shackleton. Try Redken Rootful Spray, $13.95, for great lift at the roots before sweeping hair back in a timeless chignon.

And the bride's wedding accessory? Her great grandmother's tiara. "It worked perfectly," says Shackleton.
