I can't emphasize "practicing" enough! After a year of making sure that my church service and reception would be absolutely perfect, I "assumed" that a particular hairstyle would work. It didn't! Fortunately, a friend of my mom's, a stylist, literally saved my day by doing my hair in a flattering way. I had a cosmetic company do makeup for me beforehand but didn't do it myself. On the day of my wedding, one of the members of my wedding party showered again and tied up the bathroom. I applied it myself and still regret not having help or several "dry-runs."

I totally agree about deciding on a look, practicing and being able to recreate your look. Checking out everything before a big day just makes sense, doesn't it?
