Start by pulling the skin of your eyelid taut to make drawing a smooth line easier. You can also try bracing your elbow on a flat surface to prevent shaky hands. As you draw, try to get the eye makeup as close to your lashes as possible. You don't want to have any skin showing between the liner and your eyelashes. It's truly the difference between good makeup and great makeup. If your line turns out less than perfect, use a smudge brush to even out the line -- but be sure to wipe the brush after every stroke so you don't keep adding more color, making the eye makeup heavy and dark.

Have you ever wondered why liner runs? Most pencil liners are wax based, so by nature they melt with your body heat. To counteract this, set your liner with powder shadow in the same shade. Trace just over the liner. If you're looking for big drama, line your upper inner rim with eye makeup. Use a small, lint-free Q-Tip to dry your inner rim first -- otherwise the color won't stick. Finally, two coats of black mascara will finish off the look.

A lot of people don't use the q-tip trick to dry your inner rim. Glad you mentioned it :)

Good tips, but the eyeliner barely looks visible. The lashes look amazing though, although that might just be her natural lashes plus the extra added mascara.
